Taste and See…

Main Scripture: Psalm 34:8

Almost every morning I stand in front of my “coffee bar” (one Kerig and a spinning tower of wonderful flavors and blends meant to entice even the grumpiest morning palate). I often reread a sign I have displayed there. It reads: But first…coffee!

My mind and taste buds often think, “How could someone NOT love the first taste of coffee in the morning?”  The aroma and warm feeling in my fingers as I grasp my favorite mug and finally… the first taste. Ahhhh. You get it right?

That first taste reminds me of something Psalm 34:8 tells me.  Taste and see that the Lord is good. This is one of my favorite verses. Three little words… taste and see.

The psalmist is inviting me (and you) to give it a go. It is an open invitation. Everyone is invited. Take the challenge. Open the door and see what is awaiting inside. Taste His goodness. We can enjoy and savor all the fullness of God’s love and His plans for the day. Every morning He invites us to take a sip. Give it a try. I promise the first taste will not disappoint! Now let’s start this day…

Oh, on your way out…don’t forget your coffee!
