Like Jesus Did.
Main Scripture: Psalm 89:8-9
Looking back on our lives I’m sure that each and every one of us can think about a time
in our lives that had us flustered, worried, or anxious. Right now, I think it’s safe to say that
everyone in the world is in that exact time together. This Corona, COVID, Kung Flu, whatever
you want to say, has the world in a panic. What does tomorrow hold? When will we go back to school? When can some of us go to work? When can the world go back to normal?
The question here today is one that normally doesn’t get asked during the storms but is
usually asked after our storms. How can we praise God during this time? For starters, today is a day to rejoice every year. For those of you who haven’t noticed, today is Good Friday! Want totalk about a storm?! Jesus was preparing himself for this day and this storm his whole life!
Psalms 89:8-9 tell us, “Who is like you, Lord God Almighty? You, Lord, are mighty, and
your faithfulness surrounds you. You rule the surging seas; when its waves mount up, you still them.” The same God that rules the sea, is the same God that has you held in the palm of his hand in these times of uncertainty. Before Jesus was arrested, we found him in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was praying, praying not for his life, but that Gods will be done! In the days before he would be tried and crucified, he was praising the Lord. Jesus did not let his situations or surroundings determine his outlook on the timing and obstacles that God sat in his way.
So just like we can look back, 2000 years and rejoice about this trial is Jesus life, we can
soon look back at these times and rejoice. Trust in the Lords plans and timing! He’s using each and every person in the world to proclaim His name in these times. Be patient, be hopeful, be faithful, and watch the light of our God come out of these dark days! So, with that said, will you rejoice? Will you choose to praise God? Are you praising God even in the midst of the storms like Jesus did?
