The Test
Main Scripture: Psalm 11:4
I know I’m in the minority on this, but I have always loved school. I love the social interaction, the unity in sports, and I love the academic arena. I love the thought of learning something new/different before I walked into class. I love exploring, reading, writing and the arts. All of these things I was able to do during my time in public school and even now so in college. Call me a nerd if you want, but I’ve always been that way. The one thing I have never liked about school was all of the tests. I never understood how a test was supposed to test my knowledge. But test are in place to test our strength and knowledge in a particular area. For that purpose, I know that test are good.
Just like school, did you know life has a test? Maybe you are like me. For the past week really and also during quarantine, I have felt as if I’m taking a test. A test, in life. I have had hard situations and difficult things come up. I ask God “Why is COVID-19 happening now?” or “Why aren’t things going my way?” or “Why did this happen?”. We are in a test. Did you know that God actually tests us? We don’t have to look far in the Bible to see that. Job was tested for his faith along with many others. One verse that God has lead me to for today’s devotion is found in Psalm 11:4.
“The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.”-Psalm 11:4
The Lord tests us. Why would God test us? To see how we respond. To see who/what do we cling to when things get hard. Let me ask you this question, with everything going on and in this “test” of life that we are in, who are you running to? Is it a particular sin? A particular comfort? A certain person? The only thing we should run to when the test of life gets hard, is GOD himself! He is our farther! Our comforter and our protector!
If we come out of this corona virus the same way spiritually that we entered into it than we have most certainly failed the test that God is giving us right now. This is the perfect opportunity for us to spend as much time with God as we can. We have so much time. Are you becoming closer to God in these day’s? If not, then why not? What can you do today to spend more time with him, and to become stronger in Him during this test we are under.
As I close today’s devotional I want to ask you something. Are you passing the test? Are you leaning in the strength of God or are you just going by the motions today? Let’s lean into him, and pass this test.
Also Students, be on the lookout for something coming to your doorstep today! I love ya’ll and miss you very much.
