Count Your Blessings
Main Scripture: Ephesians 5:20, James 1:17
Ephesians 5:20-
“Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
James 1:17-
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the Heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Have you ever been told to stop complaining and count your blessings instead? Maybe it’s time we all start listening. The amount of time we spend complaining, we could be counting our many blessings instead. It is so easy to become blindsided by the problems that we often forget all the blessings we have to be thankful for.
So many times, in life we get so wrapped up in what we want versus the things we need that we often fail to remember and thank God for all that He has given us. When we don’t get what we want we often fall into being discouraged and feel as if the world around us is falling apart (or maybe that’s just how my children act when they get told “no”). We need to remember that everything we have belongs to Him. All honor, glory, and thanks belong to Him.
Before you go to bed, call to mind what all you have to be grateful for today. May it be your family, friends, a roof over your head, food on the table, or all of the things we often overlook and take for granted. Remember when we think we have it bad, someone, somewhere else has it worse, and for that, we should be thankful for the things we do have rather than complain about the things we don’t.
Today I challenge you to do something for God, it is the least we can do in the grand scheme of everything He does for us. So many times, we miss little opportunities to bless others, I encourage you today and every day to find ways in which you can help bless someone else’s life in some way.
Love and Blessings,
