A Favorite Place
Main Scripture: John 16:33
Little Scout (my puppy) loves to follow me through-out the house.
I usually don’t pay much attention to his follow the leader game. I am usually engrossed in my to-do list.
He is very patient. He knows eventually I will need to take a rest from my chores. I will stop for a much need break.
Finally, the time comes when being my shadow for the past few hours has paid off for the little guy.
I sit down. He waits. I lift him into my lap.
This is his favorite place. He snuggles down. He is happy. He is beside his master and life is good for the little dog. It doesn’t take long for the rhythm of soft breathing sounds to fill the air. Scout sleeps in blissful doggy peace.
The disciple John writes in the scriptures:
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Unlike, the way I treat Scout (when he follows me around the house). God never ignores me (or you). As a follower of Christ we don’t have to wait on our master to lend His attention to us. Boy, am I glad of that!
Jesus tells us in this verse we will have hard times, or troubles (tribulation). This part is definitely true. You agree, right? So, don’t miss the last part of the statement. Jesus is telling us He has power to help us. (This part of the statement is true too!)
When we follow Jesus we have access to a Master, who not only takes care of us but, has a plan for our lives. Think about it, the God who created the universe and everything in it wants to help and bring peace and happiness to YOU. When you feel as if everything around you is going crazy and you are afraid, I invite you to put your trust in the only One who has the power to bring you peace. His name is Jesus. He is ready and waiting for you to ask Him into your life. The great part is He is waiting on you…and He never answers no!
Just like little Scout has his favorite place beside his master, I also find the rest, comfort, and, peace I so desperately crave when I go to my favorite place. That place is beside my Master, Jesus.
Why don’t you join me? I am positive you will love my favorite place too! Don’t just take my word for it….take Jesus’ word.
