Light Of The World
Main Scripture: John 8:12
“Jesus spoke to them again: I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
In the Dark
Ever get lost in the woods at night without a flashlight? Not a good feeling. Or maybe you can recall a time when the power went out at your house and you were stumbling around in the dark trying to find a flashlight without running into something. It’s always a relief when the lights come back on and we can see what we’re doing.
Light is important. We need to be able to see where we’re going in this life, and only God can illumine our path. In the Bible, light and truth are closely related. To walk in the light is to walk in the truth. Alternatively, when the Bible talks about walking in darkness, it is talking about being disconnected from God – the source of all spiritual light and truth. People living in this condition experience confusion, chaos, and pain. How could it be otherwise? They are separated from the Creator of everything, including meaning and purpose.
Into the Light
One of the great joys of being a Christian is knowing the truth. Knowing that salvation is found only in Jesus. Knowing that He is our Savior. Knowing that He is the source of all life. As John 1:4 puts it: “Life was in Him and that life was the light of men.” So, let your life shine brightly with the glorious light of Jesus.
Bottom Line
Let Jesus shine the light of His truth into your heart so that you can shine brightly for Him in a dark world.
