Faith Alone
We often find ourselves doing something for how it may make us look or to get the “feel good feeling” of helping someone.
But how many times do you listen to the Holy Spirit moving you to do something for His glory and not the glorification of ourselves. We can often get lost in the world, going to church (or right now online church), attending Bible studies and giving money to justify our faith.
Although as we see where Paul wrote to the church of Galatia in Galatians 2:16 stating that no works can be justified but faith alone.
Galatians 2:16 says “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”
We know that our faith is not built off of works but our faith should be shown through our actions. If we are a Christian then our actions should reflect that. In many ways we can understand when the Holy Spirit leads us to do certain things. We can find joy in helping others because we are called by God as a member of his family to live our faith and share the gospel.
In Philippians 1:27-30 “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.”
We are to conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel, this shows that works don’t justify our faith but that we are to live our lives according to God’s word.
We are all humans and we all fail and make mistakes but trying to live a life that pleases God should be something we strive for everyday. One of my favorite ways to give God time in my life is worship, but we also need to spend time in prayer and reading His word daily. Give God some much needed time today, rest in the knowledge that your faith is all you need, that God’s mercies are new everyday and if we have faith we are granted eternal life with him.
