Praise His Name

Main Scripture: 1 John 5:4-5

The lyrics to a very popular hymn that we all probably know is Give Me Jesus:

In the morning, when I rise

In the morning, when I rise

In the morning, when I rise, give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

You can have all this world

But give me Jesus

And when I am alone

Oh, and when I am alone

And when I am alone, give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

You can have all this world

But give me Jesus

And when I come to die

Oh, and when I come to die

And when I come to die, give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

You can have all this world

You can have all this world

You can have all this world

But give me Jesus

We never really understand that Jesus is all that we need until Jesus is all that we have. This song has spoken to me in many seasons of my life.

Although there are many wiser than I am, I know that God has called me to share what I can with those that will listen, especially youth.

If you are a Christian you were a lost soul at one point. Can you remember who or what God used to bring you to him?

For me it was my parents. It was a Tuesday night in March of 2008, as usual scripture was read and prayers were spoken and I decided right there that I wanted to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior! The song “Give Me Jesus” has more meaning at that point in my life.

I now had HOPE, in a fallen word I had hope in Jesus. When I feel alone in the world, I have Jesus! The world is passing by and the things within it! The worries of today will pass but trusting that Jesus will be with us gives us all the strength we need.

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

1 John 5:4-5 NIV

In this verse we see that those who have hope in Jesus have victory in this world.

In this world we will have trouble but we have hope in Jesus that has overcome the world. As you are reading this I hope the hymn sticks with you today. Everyday is a new day and we need Jesus every morning!
