No Turning Back

Main Scripture Genesis 19:26

Last night was an incredible night. For the first time in over 2 months we were able to have our youth service once again. We had a lot of youth come and worship with us! Lot’s of food, fun, and fellowship. More importantly the Gospel was preached and we were able to see lives changed, things that only Jesus can do! If you’ll notice the title of today’s devotional is the same as the title of the message last night. I felt as if God wanted me to write today’s devotional summarizing what last night’s sermon was about. Why? Because I think it’s so important today and everyday that we realize turning back on Jesus is not on option. It’s not something we should to, but chasing after him is something we should. Turn away from Sin in your life, but don’t turn away from God.

We see in Genesis 19 the story of when God sent two angels to come and tell Lot that he and his family needed to escape the city of Sodom because God was going to destroy it because the wickedness and sin found in the city. God told the angels to tell Lot and his family to escape but to not turn around. No Turning back. Once they leave Sodom we see in Genesis 19:26 what happens.

“But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became pillar of salt.”-Genesis 19:26

Yep, you read that right. Lot’s wife turned to salt. Literal salt. This happened due to her disobedience. She disobeyed God by turning around to see what happened to the city of Sodom. She turned to Salt.

I want to encourage you today, that whatever sin you may be struggling with to leave it with God. Give it to him and leave burdens at the foot of the cross. Students, if you remember last night during our invitation time you all wrote down which sin in your life is holding you back. By putting that card that had the sin you struggle with in the basket you were laying your sin down. Let me ask you, did you leave your sin in that basket? Did you leave it there in the fellowship hall? If you didn’t lay it back down today wherever you may be reading this. Turn your back to the sin in your life, but don’t turn your back on God.

I love you all and am praying for you. I also ask that you pray for me. That I would have the strength that only comes from God. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you need anything.

Love and Blessings,

Brady Henderson
